UK Timber Frame Association appoints new Chairman

Stewart Dalgarno has been appointed as the new chairman of the UK Timber Frame Association (UKTFA). Stewart Dalgarno is also managing director of Stewart Milne Timber Systems for England and Wales. He has been with the Stewart Milne Group for 23 years, beginning his career in design and then working his way up to the position of managing director to lead the growth of the company and its geographical expansion.

Stewart has played an active part in the UKTFA for eight years, carrying out the technical, commercial development and vice chair roles.

At just 39, he is the Association's youngest ever chairman.

Bryan Woodley, chief executive of the UKTFA, said: 'Stewart has just the right experience, skills and drive for the Association at this important stage for the industry'.

'Timber frame construction is at the forefront of the political and technological push for lower carbon buildings and zero carbon homes'.

'There is no other method of building that has such a positive impact on reducing the UK's carbon emissions'.

'Stewart's leadership skills, energy and ambition will help us to extend the UKTFA's influence and our work to grow the market for all timber frame manufacturers and suppliers'.

Stewart Dalgarno, said: 'I am delighted to be able to lead the UKTFA at such an interesting time'.

'My role, and the role of the Board and the UKTFA staff, will be to focus our energy on promoting the benefits of the UKTFA to the whole development community'.

'We want to ensure that timber frame remains the number one choice among house builders, designers and architects who care about high quality, cost effective homes that can help us tackle the long-term threats of climate change.'
