First sales success for Platz Haus (UK)

Launched into the UK market in March 2006, Platz Haus (UK) has announced the first UK sales of its post and beam and wood panel 'dream homes' precision engineered in Germany. In December 2006, contracts were formally signed for individual homes in Leeds and Scotland, with two more orders for houses in Exeter and North London expected to be finalised shortly. With a further four contracts in the later stages of negotiation, UK General Manager for Platz, Helmut Gross, is delighted: 'We have made an excellent start to 2007'.

'Entering the UK market for the first time last year, our aim was to establish the company and generate a healthy database of potential customers'.

'The number of serious enquiries has exceeded all expectation and we have doubled our sales target in nine months'.

'We are now looking to build on this in our second year as an increasing number of small and medium sized developers show interest in our dream homes in addition to individual self builders.' The first home in Leeds will be a Komfort design 'timber and glass' home.

Featuring post and beam construction, room-high glass walls replace windows while a striking gabled roof overhangs the exterior ensuring occupants are shaded during the hot summer months when the sun is high.

The home will be built in Germany and assembled on site by a team of Platz master carpenters during April/May.

The home in Scotland is an architect designed Scottish 'long house'.

Platz is the only manufacturer of off site timber framed homes to offer a service to architects, producing detailed designs and manufacturing homes from concept drawings provided by architectural practices.

Of the contracts expected to be finalised shortly, the home in Exeter is from the latest Fusion range combining post and beam with wood panel construction techniques.

Bespoke manufactured to meet the exact specification of the homebuyer or developer, Fusion homes feature a wood and glass facade for the 'sunny side' of the house and a traditional, better insulated wood panel facade where more privacy is needed.

A traditional post and beam design from the Komfort range has been chosen for the North London home.

All houses are built to the highest insulation values and feature eco-friendly, carbon-neutral heating technologies including ground source heat pumps, solar panels and a sophisticated heat recovery system, ensuring compliance with the new UK SAP rating and carbon emission requirements.

Two of the homes to be built this year also include a full 'German-style' basement area providing ample space for technical installations, a utility/storage area, home cinema/games/recreation room and office or guest room, creating additional living space from the plot.

Platz Haus (UK) is the UK distributor for Carl Platz , the German-based manufacturer of precision engineered homes manufactured off-site primarily from wooden materials.

Targeting both the self builder and small/medium size developers of premium homes, off-site construction offers real added value and potential profit.

The final market value of a completed Platz home is likely to significantly exceed the original market value of the plot and the cost of the house.

Carl Platz is located in Bad Saulgau, in southern Germany close to Lake Constance and Friedrichshafen and just 75 minutes flying time from London Stansted, visitors from the UK are welcome at the factory and show home village.
