UKTFA new carbon-neutral stand at Futurebuild 2007
The UK Timber Frame Association (UKTFA) will unveil its new-look exhibition stand at this year's Futurebuild. The UKTFA has a two pronged focus at Futurebuild 2007: to raise the profile of the Association to attract new members; and to inform architects, designers and the development community on the ways timber frame can help them rise to the forthcoming challenges of the Code for Sustainable Homes and the drive towards zero carbon housing by 2016. The stand will provide visitors with an interactive experience where they can and#145;take the timber test' to reveal interesting and surprising facts and figures about timber frame, as well as testing their knowledge on the carbon credentials of timber frame construction.
The Association has also pledged to make its stand carbon neutral, offsetting the impact of the construction of the new stand, its transport to the exhibition and any travel impacts of the UKTFA staff attending the exhibition.
Recyclable materials will be used throughout, and the timber will be from FSC certified sources.
The UKTFA will chair the free seminars on timber technology and offsite construction on Wednesday 28 February, covering topics such as the way timber continues to be adapted for offsite applications from volume construction of homes through to multi-storey buildings and award winning one-off projects.
Bryan Woodley, chief executive of the UKTFA, said: 'Futurebuild is an important exhibition for us as it helps us talk to the designers and developers who are clamouring for more information on how to use timber frame'.
